Situated on the hills of beautiful Shrewsbury, Massachusetts, Chapel on the Hill (Shrewsbury's first baptist church) is a Southern Baptist Church originally founded as a mission of Worcester Baptist Church, Worcester, Massachusetts by Pastor Richard Risas, a long-time servant of the faith-for over 40 years.


Our Vision:
To enjoy God in reverence, resting in His Grace, feeding on His Word, relying on His Spirit while we serve our neighbors; and proclaim His Gospel to all peoples, doing all to the glory of Jesus Christ.

Overview

  • Began as a Mission of the Worcester Baptist Church, Worcester, Massachusetts in November 1971
  • Was constituted as an organized place of worship in March 1976
  • Broke ground on a church building facility in the Fall of 1978
  • Completed church building facility and began usage in December 1979
  • Formally dedicated its building facility in May 1980

Our Pastor

Pastor Jeff Gauvin
Pastor Jeff Gauvin
Pastor Jeff Gauvin, senior pastor, is the spiritual leader here at Chapel on the Hill (CoTH). He joined CoTH during the first week of January 2008.

Born and raised in California, he subsequently moved to Nebraska where he served in the U.S. AirForce for seven years. His Christian ministry began when he served on the Outreach ministry at Westside SBC and as Youth Pastor at Hillcrest SBC, both in Omaha, Nebraska.

His ministry work would take him through North Carolina during which he served on a Discipleship ministry and Children Sunday School program at Faith SBC, and eventually to Pennsylvania as a Pastor for about five years at a community church.

He holds the following educational qualification:

- Master of Divinity, with Biblical Counseling, Southeastern Seminary, Wake Forest, NC
- Bachelor of Science, Grace University, Omaha, NE
- Certified Biblical Counselor, National Association of Nouthetic Counselors (NANC)

He is happily married and has two young children.


Management Structure

Our management structure consists of the following:

Finance Committee - responsible for oversight of all church financial matters

Personnel Committee
- responsible for oversight of all church employees

Leadership Council - charged with executive oversight of the church as a whole. This council includes, but is not limited to, the Pastor, Deacon(s), Trustee(s), Clerk, head of the Finance Committee, head of the Personnel committee, and the heads of each of the active Ministry Teams.
